Grace Place Wish List

Sponsor a Child/Family/Class:
The mission of Grace Place is to teach literacy, language and life skills to at-risk children and impoverished families in our community. Our primary need is for funding to pay for the classrooms, professional staff, curriculum and operations to provide our essential classes and programs.

Sponsor a Bright Beginnings Family or Class:
  • $31.25 = one week of class for a mother & child(ren)
  • $500 = one semester of classes for mother and child(ren)
  • $1,000 = a whole school-year for mother and child(ren)
  • $20,000 = a whole classroom of families for a schoolyear

Sponsor an After-School Student or Class:
  • $25 = one hour of teaching for a class of 15 students
  • $62.50 = one week of classes for one student
  • $1,000 = on semester of classes for one student
  • $15,000 = one semester of classes for a class of 15 students
  • $30,000 = full school year for a class of 15 students

Sponsor a Family Literacy Day Event
  • $1,500 = food, games, crafts, and resources for 500+ participants

Campus Expansion:
Opportunities are available to gift or name classrooms and parts of the new buildings and campus.

  • $ 800 Sound System to use for outdoor events
  • $ 12,000 12 new desktop computers for computer lab plus operating software
  • $ 400 Software licenses for Level Three Rosetta Stone English Language Program for Adults
  • $ 160 12 Classroom Cork Strips (to post Children’s artwork and projects)

Bright Beginnings – Gently Used or New

  • Items for Classrooms
        o Toddler Manipulatives
        o Infant rattles and hand toys
        o Pre-K learning toys
  • New Puzzles for children
        o 1 – 3 years old (6 pieces, cardboard)
        o 3 – 5 years old (24 pieces)
  • Tricycles for Playground

School Age Programs - New

  • Snacks and Refreshments – 500 healthy snacks needed each week
        o Pre-packaged individual snacks
        o Fresh Fruit or Grocery Gift Cards to purchase
        o Milk or juice – single serving cartons
  • Heavy Duty Pencil Sharpeners
        o Pencils and school supplies
  • Student Rewards and Incentives:
        o $5 gift cards to Dollar Store, K-Mart, McDonald’s, Burger King, etc.
        o Small prizes, games, beany babies, etc.

Family Literacy - New
  • White Board Markers and Erasers
  • English-Spanish and English-Creole Picture Dictionaries ($10 each)
  • “Specials” for Family Literacy Day Raffles
        o Small electronics (hand-held games, MP-3’s, etc.)
        o New children’s toys, equipment, specialty items
        o New recreational equipment
        o Working, recent (XP or later) desk top or laptop computers

Food Pantry

  • Mom & Tot English ($1,000/year)
  • Class of 20 families in Bright Beginnings ($20,000)
  • After School Tutoring: Students K-12 ($1,500/year)
  • Class or 16 students in After School Program ($24,000)
  • Adult English or Family Literacy ($500/year)
  • Family Literacy Day for 100 families ($1,500)
